Oyuna Tserendorj founded OYUNA in 2002 after leaving her native Mongolia to study in Hungary and travel extensively. A labour of love that began life as a small capsule collection of meticulously sourced throws, it has since grown into arguably the most diverse and expansive cashmere offering in the world.
Cashmere has long been shackled by the conservatism of traditional European design. It is a fabric that originated hundreds of years ago as an ultra-soft form of defence against some of the world’s most inhospitable terrains. OYUNA sources cashmere from one of its most ancient providers and Oyuna’s homeland, Mongolia. It is a part of the world that once saw horseback warriors and hardy shepherds alike wrapping themselves in the down of cashmere goats. Far from being just a signifier of luxury, it offered essential respite from the country’s wildly varying climates. Oyuna Tserendorj places this storied fabric in an entirely new context, whilst never compromising on the rich heritage of her homeland.
